PerfectMail's Custom Clam Antivirus Implementation

The simplest way to run ClamAV is as a separate stand-alone program. Running ClamAV in this way ensures that only safe e-mails are forwarded, but it is not very efficient. At XPMsoftware, we've tightly integrated ClamAV into PerfectMail. The result is an Antivirus scanning engine that is wickedly fast. Our own tests show that we can scan inbound e-mails and correctly reject virus laden attachments as fast as our Internet link can deliver them.

PerfectMail antivirus filtering does not eliminate the need for internal server and desktop antivirus solutions. What it does do is keep most viruses off your network so your corporate antivirus solutions have a lot less work to do.
