How It Works
Here is how XPMsoftware's PerfectMail Managed Service works:
- XPMsoftware's PerfectMail server is configured to act as the primary mail server for your domain(s)
- PerfectMail is configured with the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your real mail server
- Your real mail server is configured to reject e-mail from everyone except PerfectMail (so spammers cannot
send directly to your mail server)
- All e-mail is delivered to PerfectMail
- PerfectMail separates Spam and Viruses from legitimate e-mail
- Spam and Viruses are rejected
- Legitimate e-mail is forwarded to your network.
How do I Cut Over to PerfectMail Managed E-mail Filtering Service?
It is easy to configure your network and mail server(s) to take advantage of our e-mail
security managed services offering. Cutting over to PerfectMail is fast and can be
accomplished without loss of service or down time. Here are the steps needed to cut over:

XPMsoftware pre-configures our servers with your domain names and the IP address of your
firewall. We provide you with the FQDN for your primary and secondary PerfectMail
appliances.

Change your DNS MX record to point at our PerfectMail appliances

Reconfigure your mail server to use PerfectMail as your outbound relay.
That way, PerfectMail sees mail in both directions and can learn peer relationships
(critical to PM.s effectiveness)

After a few days, your friend changes his firewall so that he only accepts inbound SMTP
traffic from PerfectMail. This ensures that spammers do not go around PerfectMail and
deliver spam directly to your mail server.
Cut over to PerfectMail managed services typically takes no more than an hour of
administrative time. It can be completed over a weekend to ensure minimal impact to your
users.

A. No. We offer PerfectMail Managed Services to organizations of any size.
Q. Do I get a dedicated appliance or do I share it with other customers?
A. We normally provision a dedicated appliance for organizations with 50 or more
users. We will provision a dedicated appliance for smaller customers for a modest fee.
Q. What if I have more than 100 users?
A. Call us! We will be happy to discuss your needs and offer you our best possible price.
Q. How long does it take to set up?
A. We can set up our server in under 1 minute. You will need to update the Mail Exchanger (MX) record
for your domain (to point at PerfectMail) and your firewall (to accept mail traffic only from our network).
Q. What do you charge for set up fees?
A. There are no set up fees, provided you accept a minimum 6-month service agreement.
Q. Is there a minimum term of service?
A. Yes, you must agree to 6 months minimum service.
Q. What if I don't like your service?
A. You may cancel during the first month of service without penalty. After that,
we reserve the right to charge a 2-month early cancellation fee if you cancel before the sixth month.
Q. Can I get activity reports?
A. Yes, reports by user and time are available on request.
Q. Is there any charge for these reports?
A. The first three reports per month are free for the asking. After that, we charge $10/report.
Q. Do I get a dedicated appliance?
A. No, you will share an appliance with other customers. Please
contact us if you require dedicated filtering from our data
center.
